Anam attended law school in the U.K, where she graduated at the top of her class. In 2010, she was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales and is a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in London- one of the world’s most prestigious professional bodies of Barristers and Judges. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2018.
Anam joined our legal team in February 2019. Her prior immigration experience includes serving as a pro bono/volunteer lawyer with Catholic Charities. She is experienced in handling applications for various forms of humanitarian relief for e.g Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, TPS, U Visa, Protections under VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) and regularly appears before the Immigration Courts and U.S Citizen and Immigration Services offices to advocate on behalf of clients.
Whilst previously working as a lawyer in the UK, Anam focused on the interplay between domestic laws and International Human Rights declarations. Upon relocation to the US, she was quick to notice the grave human rights concerns befalling immigrants in the US and chose to dedicate her career to serving the immigrant community. Anam is skilled in articulating compelling human rights narratives within the boundaries of immigration law, whilst also simultaneously challenging the boundaries themselves.
In her spare time, Anam loves to travel and be outdoors. She is fluent in Urdu/Hindi.
